Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. ~ Heb 12:2

A New Place to Call Home

A few months ago hubby and I started attending another church.  We’d heard awesome things about it but I had my reservations.  I finally gave in and we visited during the series the Pastor was doing called The End.

It was intimidating at first.  It’s a very big church, lots of people and very contemporary.  But I just knew we needed to be there.  God’s presence was so intense during worship  I honestly was overcome.  I knew these people weren’t just going through the motions, these people were going after God.  That’s what I wanted to be a part of.

Since we started going there I’ve learned and grown so much.  There have been so many days I’ve stood in worship there and just sobbed.  I’ve left there each week wanting to tell someone what I learned.  (I’ve wanted to share with you all but I’m afraid I wouldn’t be able to do it justice.  I need to just do it afraid, as Joyce Meyer says lol.)

The series that really has changed me was the one that just concluded last week called Life Support.  I believe I mentioned it in a previous post, but I highly recommend listening to this series.  Alot of times I will listen to the podcasts while I do data entry at work.  Yes, even though I’ve already heard them in person, I still learn something new while listening again :)

I love our new church and am so thankful for Pastor Hodges and the heart he has for our city and his congregation.  You can tell he really is committed because he tells it like it is and not what would keep us comfortable.

Do you have a church home like that?  Is your Pastor committed to your growth or are they keeping you comfortable?

The church we go to has an AWESOME interim pastor and we're all hoping he'll become full time. We joke about limbering up our toes before church because he's gonna step on them. He preaches the Truth and doesn't sugar coat for popularity. The one he wants to impress is not in the congregation. Ya know? Glad you like your church. It is so different when you find one that you like!

My fiance attended an extremely small church in Georgia growing up (which just so happen to fall upon a huge tragedy when it suddenly caught fire and burned to the ground this past weekend. Please pray for the families of Calvary Baptist Church) and was taken aback when I introduced him to my church. My church, Crossroads Fellowship, is an AMAZING church, with over 5,000 members. Pastor Chuck Millian is a very tell it like it is kinda guy and never sugar coats anything. He truly keeps focus on what is most important I like yourself, I come away from there on my occasions with tears in my eyes. My fiance has grown to love the church as much as I have. Sometimes a larger church can be a little overwhelming because you aren't quite sure where you would fit in, especially if you played an important role at a much smaller church, like my fiance did. The important thing to remember is that your never there to outshine anyone and whether you are able to give back a little or a lot, keep focus on the most important reason for being there. Its not about how much we do it's about what we hold in our hearts. Check out the website for Crossroads Fellowship.

i am so happy to hear that u and yr family have found a church and pastor that God has lead u to... Our church is amazing and my Pastor teaches the uncompromising truth of God.... When u seek Him, He will lead to the church u are to be in, it shouldn't just be going thru the motions every sunday and wednsday... God thrives to be burning inside of us everyday, and when u have that leadership over u , FEEDING u its amazing what God can do IN and THRU yr lives! And i love those worship times when i weep in the presence of God, isnt it wonderful!!

That's awesome... being in an environment where you are challenged to grow - that's what we all need! Congrats on your new HOME! :)

It is so hard to leave one church and go to another even if you feel like you should. We are looking for a new church and think we have found a new one that we think we are suppose to be at, but so many times we talk about the things we liked about our old one. I'm glad you found a church you know you are suppose to be at.

Trina, thanks for sharing your heart! That's how our home church was for us. Most worship services I was crying and always felt I had just learned so much new info to help me and my walk. I am so happy for you guys!! That's awesome!
